Based on an ancient Chinese legend, this film—featuring exquisite ink drawings—tells the story of Ran Bi Wa, a monkey who grows up amongst humans and sets out on a journey to find fire on a sacred mountain. Accompanied by his wolf friend Doggie, he must face grim dangers and, in doing so, learns a great deal about courage, friendship and change. After five years in production, “A Story about Fire” celebrated its world premiere at the Berlinale 2025.
