Scarlet (JP 2025)

Denmark, 16th century: To take revenge on her uncle for her father’s death, Princess Scarlet learns the art of sword fighting. But before she can put her plan of revenge into action, she herself is seriously injured and awakens in a place beyond this world, where she meets Hijiri – a young man from the present day. Through his idealistic nature, he shows Scarlet that she too has a chance at a future free from hatred and bitterness. The film – inspired by Shakespeare’s “Hamlet” – is the latest project from Oscar-nominated director Mamoru Hosoda.
