Facades & Facets

This workshop focuses on capturing typical or visually interesting building façades in the city through drawing. The emphasis is not on the perspective rendering of an entire street scene, but on recognising and capturing the intriguing basic forms of individual buildings – their façades, rooflines, chimneys and characteristic details. Exaggerations and “happy accidents” are welcome stylistic devices. In addition, watercolour techniques will be taught, which can be used to capture textures, materials and lighting moods, thereby adding atmospheric depth to the drawings.

Participation in the workshop is only possible with prior registration by Wednesday 3 June at the latest, via email to service.festivals@stadt.erlangen.de. A fee of 15 Euro (con. 7.50 Euro) will be charged. Registration is binding – should you be unable to attend at short notice, please let us know. A waiting list will be maintained so that others may take your place if necessary.

The participation fee is to be paid in cash on the day at the Urban Sketching Hub in the former Klimaschaufenster in the Altstadtmarkt (Hauptstr. 55, next to the vhs Lesecafé): please arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before the workshop begins. If the fee has not been paid by five minutes before the workshop begins, the place will be allocated to someone on the waiting list.
