360-degree abstract view of a town square

Participants will sketch an entire town square, drawing inspiration from all directions and combining these into a single composition. By slowly turning on the spot, you capture views that stretch from the sky above, over the winding rooftops, down to street level all around you.

This 360-degree exploration challenges you to distil the essence of the cityscape into a single circular drawing, in which all elements converge towards the centre.

Key points: Explore the expressive power of lines and strong contrasts. Experiment with perspective – go beyond academic conventions and make use of distortions. Combine multiple viewpoints into a coherent composition.

Materials required: A3 paper, 2B pencil, two simple Uniball rollerball pens (black) with different tip widths (Micro and Fine), black brush pen

Participation in the workshop is only possible with prior registration by Wednesday 3 June via email to service.festivals@stadt.erlangen.de. A fee of 15 Euro / con. 7.50 Euro applies. Registration is binding – should you be unable to attend at short notice, please let us know. A waiting list is maintained so that others may take your place if necessary.

The participation fee is to be paid in cash on the day at the Urban Sketching Hub in the former Klimaschaufenster in the Altstadtmarkt (Hauptstr. 55, next to the vhs Lesecafé) (please bring the exact amount if possible!) : Please arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before the workshop begins. If the fee has not been paid by five minutes before the workshop begins, the place will be allocated to someone on the waiting list.
