Markus Pfalzgraf in conversation with Aisha Franz, Rinah Lang and Ulli Lust

Time-honoured images and ancient myths have always been used to justify the oppression of women. The spectrum of patriarchy ranges from Stone Age clichés to modern myths about the hymen, right through to a lack of understanding of hormonal balance. Ignorance of medical and anatomical facts is hardly helpful when it comes to equality either. Informative (non-fiction) comics do away with prejudices and power structures: autobiographical, documentary, scientific or essayistic. This can be not only informative, but also highly entertaining.
