Blutsauger

In “Blutsauger (“Bloodsucker”), André Breinbauer combines horror with social reality: The result is a vampire story that sharply highlights gentrification and the housing crisis through the lens of horror. In conversation with Matthias Wieland, André Breinbauer explains how his comic “Blutsauger” translates political tensions into an homage to “Dracula” and “Nosferatu” – with Vienna’s old buildings as the setting and property speculators as the real bloodsuckers. The comic is nominated for the 2026 Max und Moritz Award.
