Without a Cape (DE 2025)

Over the past 20 years, the number of independent bookshops and comic shops has almost halved. This artistic documentary portrait tells the story of one of these rare places, “Comic Cosmos” in Darmstadt, and its owner Naaman Wakim, whose shop serves as a meeting place, a retreat and a space for conversation. On his 50th birthday, he decides to personally thank his idol, the British author Alan Moore. But will he actually manage to meet him? The film is complemented by animated illustrations from the Darmstadt-based artist Johanna Krimmel.
