Ingo Römling
German comic artist Ingo Römling is one of the distinctive voices of contemporary genre comics. After studying communication design, he worked as an illustrator and art director before focusing entirely on comics. His visual style combines digital precision with traditional drawing techniques, marked by clean lines, atmospheric depth, and a strong cinematic sensibility.
Römling gained wider recognition through series such as “Die Toten” as well as his work on official “Star Wars” comics for Disney/Lucasfilm. He is particularly skilled at designing compelling characters and complex worlds, which he renders with clarity and dynamic storytelling.
Together with writer Peter Mennigen, he creates the successful series “Malcolm Max” for Splitter Verlag. The latest volume, “Malcolm Max 7: At the End of Time”, sends the Victorian investigators into a new adventure blending mystery, horror, and steampunk—stretching to the limits of space and time. Römling’s artwork gives the story a strong cinematic quality, with carefully composed and dramatically lit panels.
At the Comic-Salon Erlangen, Ingo Römling presents himself as a versatile storyteller who combines genre conventions with a distinctive visual identity.
