Rautie is a comic artist, illustrator, painter, and animator. His work appears in a wide range of media, from photocopied underground comics in limited editions to mainstream magazines, books, films, video games, record covers, visual arts projections, on city buses, utility boxes, and building facades. There's probably no area of graphic art he hasn't explored. His paintings are featured in solo, group, and permanent exhibitions in diverse venues—from trendy bars to galleries, museums, and even cemeteries. He produces and sells a line of highly popular, lovingly designed lifestyle and merchandise featuring his comic artwork. He also regularly teaches comic and drawing classes for children and teenagers. Comics have always been central to his work, ever since he became one of the artists and editors of the legendary KiX magazine in the early 1990s. Since then, he has maintained a close friendship and collaboration with other KiX artists. He created the series “Willy the Kid” and “Familie Rappelrübe” with writer Raul C.O. Kauke, and together with Torsten Kauke, he runs the KiX publishing house. His solo publications include the comics featuring the characters Fitzgerald and CoCo Fish, as well as the after-work comics of the “Stuss” series. His latest album is “Stuss mit Lustig” (KiX Verlag).
