Mia Oberländer
Born in 1995, is a comic artist and illustrator and has lived in Hamburg since 2015. She completed a Bachelor’s degree in Illustration and a Master’s degree in Graphic Narrative at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. For her graphic novel debut “Anna“ (Edition Moderne), she was awarded the Berthold Leibinger Foundation’s Comic Book Prize and a Youth Literature Prize in the category “New Talents“ in 2021. The book has been translated into several languages. She has also published shorter works in, among others, the German-language edition of Le Monde diplomatique, ZEITmagazin and the New York Times. In 2026, she is nominated for the Max und Moritz Award at the Erlangen Comic Salon with “Saloon“ (also Edition Moderne).
