Susanne Kuhlendahl lives in Tönisvorst on the Lower Rhine. She is an illustrator and author of graphic novels. Some have been self-published: “Die Geigerin” (The Violinist), “Das Blaue Gehirn” (The Blue Brain), ‘Novecento’ based on Alessandro Baricco, “Der Buhmann” (The Bogeyman) and “Das Brot” (The Bread) based on Wolfgang Borchert. The adaptation of “Death in Venice” based on Thomas Mann and the biography “Virginia Woolf” were published by Knesebeck Verlag.

Together with her son Kilian Kuhlendahl, she wrote and illustrated the graphic novel “War doch alles schön” (Everything Was Beautiful After All) about her mother's war memories and the influence of her traumas on herself and her son. The project was made possible by a scholarship from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and Kickstarter funding.

Helvetiq publishes her adaptation of “Orlando” by Virginia Woolf, a fantastic and funny story that deals with topics such as transgender, bisexuality, feminism, and literature in a lighthearted way.
