Steffi Freitag, a native of Munich, lives with her family in Munich’s Laim district. She studied political science, ethnology, and religious studies many years ago and subsequently taught German as a second language. She has been a children’s book author and illustrator since 2020. Her first two graphic novels were published by Fischer Sauerländer in 2025 and 2026. As an author, she has published with klein & groß Verlag to date. 

The stories are unconventional, funny, quirky, socially critical, and sometimes a little bit wicked. Her drawing style is scrawled, quick, and unadorned, with plenty of facial expressions and gestures.
