Franziska Ruflair, born in 1991, studied communication design at Mainz University of Applied Sciences, specializing in illustration and comics. In 2016, her bachelor’s thesis—a graphic novel about family relationships—earned her a spot as a finalist for the Berthold Leibinger Foundation’s Comic Book Award. Her debut, “Adventure Huhn”—the story of an adventurous chicken and his reluctant but brave companion, Susan the caterpillar—was published by avant-verlag in the fall of 2019. Together with her colleague Jennifer Daniel, she hosts the creative podcast “Art, Work & Progress”. She works as a freelance illustrator and internationally sought-after graphic recorder in Düsseldorf.
