The Simpsons – It doesn’t get any yellower than this!

The Simpsons, created and still accompanied by Matt Groening, are the greatest media success of all time. No other television series can boast such a long run, so many episodes or comparable global reach, despite being very American and often sarcastic and darkly humorous to the point of pain.

The exhibition, curated by Alexander Braun for Dortmund’s “schauraum comic + cartoon”, showcases every aspect of this yellow phenomenon of the century: original scripts, original storyboards, original draft sketches, as well as original drawings and coloured transparencies from the animation production. On display are original artwork from the comic books, surprising tributes from fellow artists and rarely seen merchandise.
