Josephine Mark studied cultural and media education in Merseburg, while also designing album covers, posters, and flyers for bands and student projects. She has been publishing comics and cartoons under the label puvo productions since 2004. In her mostly humorous, often thought-provoking stories, she explores everyday philosophy and social issues. Josephine Mark’s illustrations can be found in books such as “Ich bin Flocke” (author: Maren Damman, Ueberreuter) and “Das große Glück der kleinen Dinge ... und wo es sich versteckt” (author: Charlotte Caspa, Lappan). Her debut comic “Murr” was published in 2021 by Zwerchfell (new edition by Kibitz) and received the ICOM Independent Comic Award 2022. Her multi-award-winning comic road movie “Trip mit Tropf” was published by Kibitz (Max und Moritz Prize 2022 for “Best Comic for Children,” Kranichstein Children’s Literature Scholarship 2023, Uwe Lüders Prize for Illustration, among others) as well as her comic adaptation of the “Bärbeiß” stories by Annette Pehnt and Jutta Bauer. Her latest book, “Red”, was published by Kibitz in 2026 and will be presented in a reading on Saturday, 6 June at the kubic.
