Thomas Baehr began his professional career as an illustrator in the United States, where he lived for many years. He was a member of the legendary comic collective Act-I-Vate, where his graphic novel “The End is Here” was first published. He has been back in Berlin since 2019. He has been drawing his comic strip “POL”, featuring adorable penguins in the age of climate change, since 2005. The first American newspaper publications followed that same year, and later in European newspapers and magazines as well. The strip won the 2013 Fortune Cookie Challenge hosted by GoComics and was named Cartoon of the Month by W-T-W.org Women and Finance in December 2021. Since 2017, his penguins have found a home in Germany with Gringo Verlag; three volumes are already available. The German edition of “Das Ende” (The End is Here) was also published by Gringo Comics in 2024.
