Julia Zejn, born in 1985, lives and works in Leipzig. She studied communication design with a focus on illustration and animation. Since 2013 she has been working as a freelance illustrator, among other things for various theater productions. Meanwhile, she devoted herself more and more to drawing comics. After various short story comics, her debut "Drei Wege" was published in 2018 by avant-verlag, a graphic novel about three women's lives in Germany, each 50 years apart: 1918, 1968, and 2018. "Andere Umstände" was then published in the fall of 2021. This graphic novel describes the life of Anja, a woman in her late twenties who becomes pregnant unintentionally. Julia Zejn makes a radically unagitated plea for the right to self-determination over one's own body.
