Sarah Burrini
Sarah Burrini is a trained animator, freelance comic artist, and illustrator. She drew “Silly&Cone” for MAD and various short comics for anthologies, and contributed to animated segments for the children’s TV show “Sendung mit der Maus.” Since 2007, she has created the comic section for the children’s magazine BENNI. In 2012, the Italian publisher “La Lepre Edizioni” released her mystery comic “Astrum Noctis,” which appeared in German in 2013 from dani books. From 2009 to 2020, she drew the absurd semi-autobiographical webcomic “Das Leben ist kein Ponyhof,” for which she was awarded the Peng, the Golden Garden Gnome, and the Sondermann Prize at the Frankfurt Book Fair, and which was published in 2011 by Zwerchfell-Verlag, from 2014 by Panini Comics, and in 2020 by Edition Kwimbi. Sarah Burrini won the ICOM Award in 2014 for a special achievement or publication and the Max und Moritz Award in 2018 for “Das Leben ist kein Ponyhof.” In 2018, her character “Nerd Girl” was featured at ComicCon Germany Stuttgart. Together with Peter Milligan, she published “William Wilson Inc.” (Ahoy) in 2019 and “Monsters in My Life” (Bad Idea Comics) in 2021. As one of the first German artists to use the webcomic format, she is a frequent guest on panels, podcasts, and in other media formats.
