On 16 January 2026, US cartoonist K. Woodman-Maynard published an online comic that was to have a major impact. It was a call to action for the “ICE Out Comics” campaign, which Woodman-Maynard initiated together with cartoonists Jason Walz and Trung Le Nguyen. The three live in Minneapolis, where, at that time, the controversy surrounding the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Trump administration’s deportation policy was reaching a head.

Hundreds of cartoonists subsequently posted contributions under the hashtag #ICEoutComics, which met with a huge response. The exhibition, curated by Tagesspiegel editor Lars von Törne, showcases over 30 selected works by more than 20 artists and provides insights into the background of the campaign.
