Shevek K. Selbert

Shevek K. Selbert was born in Worms in 1981. He studied educational science and philosophy, obtaining a Master’s degree in Mainz, and was awarded a PhD in 2024 from the University of Freiburg for his thesis on autobiographical retelling. In his autobiographical two-volume comic series “Für einen Augenblick für immer glücklich” and “Wish you were here”, for which he was awarded the Berthold Leibinger Comic Book Prize in 2026, he recounts his mother’s childhood and youth, as well as his own childhood amidst poverty, addiction and family breakdowns. Shevek lives with his family in Nieder-Olm.
