Florian Satzinger is an Austrian author and character designer working in the fields of animated film, computer games and comics, among others, for Warner Bros., Disney and Zanuck Family Entertainment; at the same time, he satirises these very companies and their iconic cartoon characters in museum exhibitions.

Satzinger’s artistic style and approach are significantly influenced by classic Anglo-American animated films (he trained in Canada at the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts under Ken Southworth). He is also influenced by classical painting (Middlesex University, London) and European animation and comics, particularly the works of Bruno Bozzetto and André Franquin.

In 2009, the artist was honoured with the Nemoland Award in Florence, and in 2023 with the Erich Sokol Prize from the Caricature Museum in Krems, Austria. In 2024, Satzinger – the first non-Italian illustrator to do so – created the cover illustration for the Italian Mickey Mouse magazine Topolino.

Florian Satzinger is currently working on the development of the computer game “John Starduck” and on the character design and illustrations for the book “Parsifal Murray” by actor and author Kyle Allen.
