Anke Kuhl
Anke Kuhl, born in 1970 in Frankfurt am Main, is an illustrator, author and comic artist. With “Alle Kinder. Ein ABC der Schadenfreude” and “Alles Familie!” – the latter of which won the German Youth Literature Prize in 2011 – Anke Kuhl has established herself as one of Germany’s leading children’s book illustrators. She has received numerous awards for her work (German Youth Literature Prize, Comic Book Prize of the Berthold Leibinger Foundation, Max und Moritz Prize).
In 2015, Anke Kuhl’s comic “Lehmriese lebt!” (Reprodukt) was published. Further comic publications followed: “Manno! Alles genau so in echt passiert” (Klett Kinderbuch) and “Geniale Geschenke” (Kibitz Verlag). In 2024, she co-edited the anthology “Mukkekukke – Comics zu Musik” with Moni Port, published by Reprodukt. In 2025, the autobiographical children’s comic “Pferde, Tränen, Lachanfälle” was published by Klett Kinderbuch. Anke Kuhl lives with her family in Frankfurt am Main.
As part of the children’s comic festival, Anke Kuhl, together with Moni Port and other artists, will have a reading from “Mukkekukke” on Friday 5 June at 1.30 pm; on Saturday 6 June at 12.30 pm, she will present her latest comic featuring childhood memories from the Ostertal valley.
