Dominik Merscheid
Dominik Merscheid makes music for children and adults. As a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, but also as a sound effects artist, voice impersonator and hospital clown, he is always on the lookout for inspiring ideas, a bubbling enthusiasm for play and genuine interaction. He has won two children’s music awards – the Weberlein in 2021 and the LEOPOLD in 2024.
The trained primary school teacher was introduced to the world of children’s culture through the multimedia BildKlangLesung (picture-sound-reading), which he developed in 2016 together with the illustrator and author Ferdinand Lutz and has since performed to thousands of young and older audiences. In 2018, he co-founded the children’s comic magazine POLLE, to which he continues to contribute translations, songs and soundtracks to this day. Since the release of his debut album “Im Spiel” (2021), he has collaborated on stage and in the studio with artists including DONIKKL, Herr Jan, Johannes Stankowski and Sven van Thom. His second album, “Guter Dinge”, was released in February 2026.
As part of the Children’s Comic Festival, he will take part in the POLLE Matinee on Saturday 6 June and, together with Ferdinand Lutz, present a picture-sound reading from the latest volume of Q-R-T.
