Ralf Marczinczik
Ever since he could hold a pen, Ralf has been drawing characters and creating stories. After a detour via an apprenticeship in printing, he studied communication design, specialising in graphic design, in Essen in the late 1980s. From there, his career took him through various roles in animation studios and advertising agencies, eventually leading him to set up his own graphic design studio.
Since the 1990s, he has earned his living designing PC games, advertising campaigns and illustrations. He gained recognition as the creator of the character Sven Bomwollen and as art director and concept artist for games such as Moorhuhn, Gothic and The Settlers. Since 2014, he has been working as a freelance designer for various games, film and advertising companies, whilst also devoting himself to his comic projects.
His comic “Digger” won the ICOM Independent Comic Award 2024 in the ‘Best Self-Published Work’ category and was published by Kultcomics. His current book projects (“Balbi: Jenseits der Farben”, “Floats” and others) can be followed on Comixfactory.de and on his social media channels. Ralf lives and works in Detern, East Frisia, and has been in charge of the Erlangen Comic Seminar since 2019.
