Lapin (1981) is a French artist living in Barcelona. He describes himself as a "mobile illustrator" and records his life in drawings: over the past 20 years, he has filled more than 220 sketchbooks. He has been part of the Urban Sketchers community since its beginnings and was appointed official air and space painter for the French army in 2019. He uses old account books that he finds at flea markets to create his sketches. These old papers with their red and blue lines remind him of the first drawings of the scientific expeditions of the 18th century. Such as those by Cook or Laperouse. He wishes to become one of these explorers. He also appreciates the economy of the medium: equipped with light luggage, he doesn't need much more than a sketchbook, a fineliner, watercolors and his folding stool on his travels. The street is his studio. Lapin has already published more than 45 books, among others on Barcelona, Paris, Japan, Cuba, the island of Ouessant, Qatar and topics such as "Art Nouveau", "Gentrification", "Vintage cars", "Aviation" and "Dinosaurs".
