Marian Kretschmer was born in Chemnitz in 1983. There he trained as a design assistant and co-founded the independent comic publisher TheNextArt. After studying as a guest student at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig, he was accepted into the Saxon Artists' Association and lived as a freelance artist in Zurich from 2012. He returned to Saxony in 2015. In addition to a series of solo exhibitions, he has participated in large concept exhibitions, such as on the occasion of the partnership anniversary Chemnitz - Tampere 2011 in Finland ("Industry and Matter"). His picture cycle "Everything is frozen light" with 14 large-format paintings was presented in the Vatican on the occasion of the Luther anniversary in 2017 at the "Peace Run Wittenberg - Rome". Since 2018, he has been present in China with exhibitions in Beijing, Kunming and Chongqing. His illustration work includes comics, illustrations of poems, texts and fairy tales for exhibitions and print media, as well as his own book project "Wunderland". His first graphic novel, "The Seven Lives of Stefan Heym", was published by Bertelsmann Verlag in 2024.
