Karen Hertfelder

Karen Hertfelder (*1996, Bonn) lives and works in Kassel, Germany, as a comic author and illustrator. Currently, she is also working as the lead organizer for the Turning Pages Comicfestival in Kassel.
In 2025 she graduated from the Kunsthochschule Kassel with honor in Visual Communication with the comic "Auf dem Mars regnet es nicht". In 2023 her debut comic "Herzschlag", published by Schwarzer Turm, was nominated for a GINCO award and ICOM award.
Karen Hertfelder enjoys writing and working with fictional narratives, characters and settings that mirror every day life and politics. Her works play with queer imagery, feminist and butch aesthetics and enjoys challenging her reader's viewing habits.
