Anna Haifisch was born in Leipzig in 1986 and studied illustration at the Academy of Visual Arts there. In 2015 her first comic "Von Spatz" was published by Rotopol with a simultaneous release in French (Misma) and in 2018 in English (Drawn and Quarterly). From 2015 on she drew the series "The Artist" for the US website of VICE Magazine, which has since been published in three volumes in German by Reprodukt. Her short story collection "Schappi" was published by Rotopol in 2019 and was published in English by Fantagraphics in summer 2022. Her latest book "Ready America" was released in summer 2024 as a co-edition by Rotopol and Fantagraphics. Her first book for children "Die Grille in der Geige" was awarded with a Ragazzi Award special mention in the category Comcis - Early Readers by the Children's Book Fair Bologna. In 2013 she founded the Leipzig comic and graphics festival "The Millionaires Club" with seven friends. Anna Haifisch has received numerous awards for her work. Most recently, in 2025, she was awarded the Gutenberg Prize by the City of Leipzig and the Sondermann Award for Comic Art.
