The exhibition marking the 40th anniversary of the underground comic magazine “Sprühende Phantasie” presents contributions from around 60 different artists and the editor Jo “84” Guhde. Original drawings that were printed in the magazine are displayed - some by artists who have long since passed away. Also on display, are unpublished works, curiosities or material that is only planned for future issues, as well as reports, anecdotes, historical photos and prints narrating the history of the magazine and the editor. The exhibition reflects the development of the German comics scene at the fundamental level and conveys to today’s generation how the scene was able to emerge 40 years ago: Without digital options, people exchanged ideas and organized themselves in completely different ways. The conceptual changes of the magazine over the last 40 years are also addressed, and so digital works are converted into prints.
