Gerhard Förster is one of the veterans of the Austrian comic scene. He writes autobiographical, confessional stories that are clearly inspired by Robert Crumb’s early underground comics and which also deal with, for example, his time with the Scientology sect. Gerhard Förster was the long-standing editor of the comic magazine Die Sprechblase, which places a particular focus on the interests of a nostalgic collector community – but not exclusively. Together with Heinz Wolf, he authored the autobiographical comic album “Die ganze Wahrheit” (The Whole Truth), in which the pair humorously portray the inner workings of a chaotic DIY comic magazine editorial team and also offer some profound insights into the particular needs of a comic collector’s soul.
