Jörg Asselborn

The designer and illustrator Jörg Asselborn studied communication design, specialising in illustration, at Mainz University of Applied Sciences and has lived and worked in Wiesbaden since 1999. As an artist and member of the Urban Sketchers RheinMain group, he seeks out places steeped in history and atmosphere. In the past, Jörg Asselborn has given talks on the subject of ‘Urban Sketching / Sketching on Location’ and shares his artistic perspective and approach in numerous workshops in Germany, France, Spain and Switzerland. As an Urban Sketcher, Jörg Asselborn discovered a fondness for forgotten places and objects that seem to have a story of their own to tell. He is particularly drawn to anything crooked, broken or ‘marked’ by the passage of time. In addition to on-site drawings, which he mainly captures in sketchbooks, he also creates imaginary places in larger formats.
