With the popularization of manga in German-speaking countries, the first projects by German-speaking artists that took up the stylistic devices of Japanese comics emerged at the turn of the millennium. Jürgen Seebeck, Robert Labs, Sascha Nils Marx and Christina Plaka were among the pioneers of a creative scene that became increasingly broader and more diverse over the years. Many of the works also attracted a lot of attention internationally; Gin and Ban Zarbo, among others, are currently preparing to conquer international markets. The exhibition traces the trajectory of manga production in Germany, Austria and Switzerland from its beginnings to the present day, categorises developments in the field, and presents works by the most successful mangaka from over 25 years. Exhibits by Jürgen Seebeck, Robert Labs, Nina Werner, Anike Hage, Melanie Schober, Anna Hollmann, Martina Peters, Alexandra Völker, David Füleki, Ban Zarbo, Gin Zarbo, Sozan Coskun, Tamasaburo, Blackii, Daniel Echinger and Dominik Jell are among those on display.
